Come along for a weekend of building skills and new friendships. Spend 2 days at the beautiful Hidden Valley Farm learning about sustainable living, with 6 diverse workshops selected from our 8 topics – Permaculture, Natural Building, Bush Craft, Homesteading, Community Living, Sustainable Energy, Hand Crafts and Health & Well Being.

During SOS weekends six amazing teachers come along to share their knowledge, skills and passions with you, this is a chance to meet people who really know their craft and to take home those skills yourself.
During the weekend you will:
- Learn 6 great new skills
- Make lots of awesome new friends
- Camp at Hidden Valley Farm
- Enjoy the natural surroundings
- Be inspired and energised
Who: The School of Self-Sufficiency is really for anyone – all ages and all walks of life. Weather you’ve just started thinking about living more sustainably or have been living-grid for years. Families very welcome and kids under 12 are free. We also get many singles coming along, so don’t be afraid to come along on your own, you’ll make plenty of friends in no time.
Workshops: Are held on the Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 5pm, with tea and lunch breaks. It’s a very action packed weekend and each workshop runs for between 2-3 hours. Your ticket includes 6 diverse workshops and most materials and tools that are required (you may be asked to bring one or two things along). The workshops change each time so please check the SOS listings for more details on specific dates.
Camping: Site open from Friday night so you can arrive early, get setup and relax before the workshops start the following morning. This night will be a pot luck dinner and we ask that everyone bring a share plate to add to the communal dinner. Your ticket includes camping through until Monday morning if you’d like to extend your stay. Teachers are paid and also invited to stay for the whole weekend as a participant in other workshops and join in all the communal fun.
